Behavioral

Intuit’s Assess for Awesome (A4A) loop rewards practical craft: you get a real repo ahead of time, implement user stories live, then often scale that same service in HLD — plus a modern AI/GenAI probe. Puzzle olympics matter less than clean code, tests, and customer-framed tradeoffs (Customer Obsession, Design for Delight). Timeline is often ~2–6 weeks; virtual onsites are common.

Senior / Staff loop

Common A4A path for Senior (and often Staff with heavier design/AI):

  1. Recruiter screen (~25–40 min) — background, why Intuit, logistics / immigration
  2. Online assessment and/or live technical screen (60–90 min): DSA mediums; sometimes early AI readiness
  3. Craft Demonstration (~75–90 min): repo 1–5 days early; implement user stories live; tests valued
  4. Virtual onsite cluster: system design (often evolves the craft service), AI/GenAI round, behavioral / HM
  5. Offer / leveling

Craft Demonstration (signature)

This is Intuit’s Bar-Raiser-shaped differentiator: you work in a provided codebase (often Spring Boot or Python) against written user stories, with interviewers watching how you orient, design, implement, and test — not how fast you grind LeetCode.

AI / GenAI rounds

Phone screens may include ~20 min on AI-native vs not, LLM basics, day-to-day use, and risks. Onsite AI accessor often adds a recommendation / RAG story on the craft service — prompt craft, hallucination, evaluation — not a full tested feature. Interviewers want risk awareness and evaluation thinking, not buzzwords.

Prep plan for Intuit

  1. Coding: breadth + Top lists; pass preconfigured tests; invent cases; Senior scale follow-ups — coding series
  2. Craft: practice extending a small Spring/Flask app from user stories with tests
  3. HLD: pattern scripts (search, CDC, seasonal spike fintech loads) — HLD delivery
  4. LLD/concurrency for Senior+ — LLD path
  5. AI: RAG + prompt failure modes — RAG
  6. STAR bank for values + conflict/feedback — behavioral

Signal rubric — Intuit strong vs weak

7-day Intuit plan (week before)

  1. D−7–6: Timed mediums with invented tests.
  2. D−5: Extend a toy Spring/Flask app from 2 user stories + tests.
  3. D−4: HLD evolving that app.
  4. D−3: RAG/prompt drill (5-minute explain + failure modes).
